In order to meet the requirements for the investment category of temporary residency you will need to make an investment of $200,000 in Costa Rica.  This investment can be made in various forms but the most common are in business and real estate. Once the investment is made then it is necessary to prove this amount at the current registered value to Costa Rica immigration. Under this category once you have lived in Costa Rica for three years you may apply for Permanent Residency.

It is also necessary to reside in costa Rica for 6 months out of every year to maintain your status.
