One of the easiest and simplest ways to meet residency requirements is through the Pensionado Program. For this you need to be already retired from your work and have started to collect your pension. This pension benefit has to be a minimum of $1000 per month, you will also need to prove this benefit through a notarized and authenticated pension letter demonstrating that it is for life.
When this type of residency is granted you are not able to work under this category but you may own a business.
Some residency categories require a time commitment for each year but the pensionado doesn’t have this restriction. Although if you leave the country for two consecutive years you will lose the residency.
You will need to be in the country in order to renew your application.
